1960 Ernie Banks Pro Model Bat

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,410.00

H&B factory records document that this H&B signature model “S2” bat was one of only six such bats shipped to Ernie Banks on September 20, 1960. The bat displays no use and aside from some minor flaking to the finish appears almost exactly as it did when it left the factory in 1960. A mounting hole was later drilled in the knob, apparently for display purposes. This bat originates from the collection of a former Major League bat boy, who kept this bat as a souvenir (this probably explains both the lack of use and the mounting hole). Banks led the National League in home runs in 1960 with forty-one. He eventually finished his career with 512 home runs, a total which ranks seventeenth all-time. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1977. Length: 33.87 inches. Weight: 31.8 ounces. Graded A4 by MEARS (base grade of 5, with 1 point deducted for the combination of the light flaking to the finish and the mounting hole in the knob). LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,410.00
