1956 New York Yankees World Champions Team-Signed Ball

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $2,350.00

Official American League (Harridge) ball signed in blue ink by the following twenty-seven members of the 1956 World Champion New York Yankees: Mantle (sweet spot), Berra (sweet spot), Martin, Rizzuto, McDemott, Ford, Coleman, Howard, Sturdivant, Hunter, Silvera, Bauer, Terry, Kucks, Morgan, Skowron, Carey, McDougald, Carroll, Cerv, Siebern, Grim, Turley, Coleman, Byrne, Larsen, and Collins. The signatures are all fairly uniform in grade, averaging "7/8," with the exception of Siebern (which is very faint). This ball has been consigned directly from the family of legendary Yankees scout Paul Krichel (the man who discovered Lou Gehrig) and his initials, "PK," appear in blue ink on a side panel. (This type of notation was commonly added in the Yankees clubhouse when team balls were lined up for signing for fellow players and members of the Yankees organization.) The manufacturer's stampings are light, but clearly legible. The ball displays light age toning on one side panel and is otherwise in Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $2,350.00
