Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $470.00

Titled Bethpage Black Course, 2002 U.S. Open , issued in 2002, serigraph numbered "52/350," signed by Neiman in pencil in the lower right (grading "10"). Edition limited to 428 total impressions (350 numbered impressions, 70 artist's proofs, and 8 printer's proofs). This striking piece was commissioned by the United States Golf Association for the 102nd U.S. Open Golf Championship. The 2002 U.S. Open, held at Bethpage State Park (Black Course), in Farmingdale, N.Y., was an historic event due to the fact that, for the first time ever, the Open was held at a publicly owned and operated golf course. When New York Governor George Pataki unveiled the original painting of this piece he commented "LeRoy Neiman is a true master of portraying the highest points of human achievement through his spectacular artwork. This painting truly exemplifies the grandeur of Bethpage Black and the spirit of the U.S. Open." Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open in 2002. The serigraph measures 28 x 35.25 inches and has been matted to total dimensions of 38.5 x 46.25 inches. Accompanied by a certificate of documentation from Knoedler Publishing LLC. Mint condition. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $470.00
