Caption: "Think of it. These tracks were made more than 10,000,000 years ago!" Medium: Lithopencil and pencil. Image Area: 13.5 x 16 inches. Publication History: Preliminary sketch for a cartoon that was originally published in the April 11, 1942 issue of The New Yorker . Condition: Fine. Provenance: Purchased in November 1999 from Illustration House, the world's premier auction house specializing in illustration art. A formal appraisal in writing by Frederic Taraba (necessary for the settling of the estate) accompanies and lists an appraised value for this work of $5,000.
