Original Enrich Cover Art Painting for Vampirella #35 (August 1974)

Starting Bid - $4,000.00, Sold For - $5,581.25

Original cover art painting to Vampirella #35 by Enrich, published in August 1974. Extraordinarily detailed oil-on-canvas cover painting is both a museum-caliber masterpiece and a true foyer piece ideal for a medieval castle. Rarely does a cover painting capture the Warren aesthetic more effectively than this Vampirella cover painting, which at a glance presents the goddess pinup quality that is characteristic of Vampirella, but also has a dark element of horror. This is a stunning and simply unforgettable cover painting by Enrich, produced at the height of his powers. Enrich Torres is universally recognized as the master of Vampirella cover paintings. He is responsible for fifty-four of the cover paintings which appeared on the original 112 original Vampirella issues (two paintings appeared on more than one issue). These covers are one of the most important and recognized bodies of work in all of modern illustration art, and are largely responsible for the prominence, success, and popularity of the entire Vampirella line. Few artists were able to capture the horror of the Warren universe so effectively, or to have such a lasting impact on an entire genre. His work is rare, especially ideal examples such as this, and is held in the highest esteem among collectors. This is an outstanding example of Enrich's work which has never before been offered. Dimensions: 13 x 18 inches. Beautifully matted and framed to total dimensions of 20 x 25 inches. In virtually flawless condition. The original cover painting is accompanied by a copy of the published magazine (Nr/Mt).
