Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,410.00
Complete set of fifty 1888 N22 Allen & Ginter “Racing Colors of the World” cards. Exceptionally strong set of these very colorful tobacco cards, with an overall Excellent appearance. Technically the condition ranges from Vg-Ex to Ex (averaging Vg-Ex/Ex), with the exception of just several cards slightly lesser. Issued with Allen & Ginter's Cigarettes. Somewhat reminiscent in high quality and design to the N162 Old Judge & Gypsy Queen Champions series, these sporting cards feature attractive women jockeys riding racehorses dressed in fancy jockey’s attire. The colors printed on the cards represent, at the time, well-known stables from around the world. The back of each card features a checklist of the set. This is an extremely attractive set with outstanding eye-appeal. Allen & Ginter's “Racing Colors of the World” set has always been highly appreciated by nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card collectors for its beauty and subject matter. Rarely offered as a complete set. Total 50 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,410.00
