1936 R60 Gum, Inc. "G-Men & Heroes of the Law" Complete PSA-Graded Set(168) Plus 33 Variations - #2 PSA Registry!

Starting Bid - $2,500.00, Sold For - $22,325.00

Presented is one of the finest complete sets of 1936 "G-Men & Heroes of the Law" bubble-gum cards ever assembled. This is the number-two All-Time Finest set on the PSA registry. The PSA set registry GPA is 5.27, which for this condition-sensitive set is extraordinary. Included are all 168 cards in the set plus an additional thirty-three variations for a total of 201 cards. Forty-seven cards in the set are the highest-ever graded in the PSA Population Report (and this does not account for the twenty-four high grade cards in this set which are in SGC holders). This ultra high-grade set has been assembled one card at a time by an extremely dedicated collector with an uncompromising commitment to condition and eye-appeal over a period of twenty-one years, actively seeking to upgrade this set during the entire span of his collecting. We have never seen a G-Men set that even comes close to the extraordinary results of these great efforts. Advanced collectors are well aware that G-Men cards are far more difficult to collect in high grade than baseball cards of the era, in part because they are far rarer. Gum, Inc.'s 1936 "G-Men & Heroes of the Law" series is one of the most popular nonsport sets ever issued. Its outstanding color, detailed artwork, popular subject matter, and the exciting adventures presented on the backs, all contribute to making this set one of nonsport-collecting's all-time classics. A complete set of G-Men is rare in any condition, let alone a set of such exceptional high quality. The entire set of 168 cards has been graded and encapsulated by PSA (with the exception of twenty-four cards which have been graded by SGC). 123 cards range in grade from Ex to Nr/Mt-Mt (fifteen NM-MT 8, seventeen NM 7, forty-one EX-MT 6, and fifty EX 5) and forty-five cards are Vg-Ex and slightly lesser. Also included with the set are an additional thirty-three variation cards: twenty-four variation cards (#1-24) have no sign of incorporation (without the sign is much rarer) and nine variation cards (#129, 131, 137, 147, 151, 155, 158, 162, 166) have a yellow ampersand as opposed to red. The complete PSA condition composite follows: Fifteen NM-MT 8: #33, 47, 89, 91, 98, 101, 104, 114, 117, 120, 123, 126, 128, 277, and 427 (OC). Seventeen NM 7: #9, 11, 32, 56, 60, 63, 82, 87 (SGC NM+ 86), 92, 97, 106, 112, 119, 121, 136, 137, and 227. Forty-One EX-MT 6: #16 (SGC EX/NM 80), 36, 40, 45, 51, 62, 65, 67, 72, 75, 81, 83, 86, 93, 94, 100, 103, 107, 109, 129, 132, 135, 139, 147, 149, 155, 158, 162, 177, 181, 212, 219, 233, 253, 266, 269, 279, 371, 411, 415, and 437. Fifty EX 5 : #1, 2 (SGC EX 60), 3 (SGC EX 60), 4 (SGC EX 60), 8 (SGC EX 60), 14 (SGC EX 60), 15 (SGC EX 60), 19 (SGC EX 60), 20 (SGC EX 60), 22 (SGC EX 60), 26, 38, 39, 46, 49, 50, 53, 58, 76, 77 (SGC EX 60), 84, 96, 111 (MC), 115, 125, 127, 131, 142, 156, 166, 185, 191, 196, 201, 203, 206, 208, 210, 262, 271, 283, 307, 311, 326, 335, 343, 397, 401, 405, and 431. Six VG 3 : #12 (SGC VG 40), 17 (SGC VG 40), 18 (SGC VG 40), 169, 281, and 445. One GOOD 2: #257. Thirteen "Authentic": #25, 29, 42, 44, 55, 69 (SGC AUTH), 74, 79, 239, 242, 275, 349, and 36 2 . A large percentage of these cards are the highest- or second-highest graded examples in the PSA Population Report. The set is accompanied by an original “G-Men & Heroes of the Law” Gum, Inc. wrapper, which has always been considered one of wrapper-collecting's greatest prizes. The wrapper is in Vg-Ex condition. This is a remarkable set. Very few complete sets have been assembled in any condition, but the assembly of a set of this caliber is particularly extraordinary. One of only two completely-graded R60 G-Men sets that we know of to have ever been assembled, this is a world-class set of one of the most popular and rarely offered of all 1930s gum-card sets. Total 202 items (complete set of 168 cards, 33 variation cards, plus wrapper) . Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000/$7,500. SOLD FOR $22,325.00
