1909-1911 E254 Colgan's Chips Honus Wagner
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,410.00
Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Extremely attractive high-grade E254 Colgan’s Chips card of Honus Wagner. This is one of Honus Wagner's most striking cards, from one of the era's most unusual and interesting sets. This card is also noteworthy as it features the very same Carl Horner portrait as appears on his famous T206 card. Perfectly clean both front and back, and with a crisp, flawless image, and perfect centering to the advertisement on reverse. This card appears Near Mint to Mint. Colgan's obviously don't have corner wear, but the slightest hint of very minor edge wear from normal handling is responsible for this card grading EX/NM 80 as opposed to an even higher grade. Wagner, of course, is one of the key stars of the set. He has an even greater significance to this set as he was also a spokesman for Colgan’s, allowing his likeness to be used in Colgan’s advertising and promotional materials. This is a beautiful high-grade example of one of Honus Wagner’s most classic and unusual cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600 . SOLD FOR $1,410.00
