1911 T205 Gold Border Bobby Wallace Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,175.00
Hall of Famer Bobby Wallace is one of several players in the T205 Gold Border set who is represented by two completely different poses, one of which (the "no cap" variety) is one of the rarest cards in the set. The rare "no cap" variety itself was actually issued with two different variations, relating to the text on the reverse. Presented is a complete set of all three Bobby Wallace variations from the classic T205 Gold Border series, all graded and encapsulated by PSA (unless otherwise noted): 1) With cap – PSA EX 5. This is a very clean example with virtually flawless registration, perfect colors, and light, even corner wear. Centered 25/75 left to right. The back has light toning along the right edge, otherwise perfectly clean. 2) No cap, one line of 1910 stats – PSA VG 3. The most difficult to find of the two varieties of Wallace's rare "no cap" pose in the T205 set. This T205 rarity is bright and crisp, with perfect registration, brilliant colors, evenly rounded corners, and a single horizontal crease (which does not affect the striking portrait image). The reverse is perfectly clean with bold black text. 3) No cap, two lines of 1910 stats – SGC POOR 10. The card has a few creases, and a minor surface abrasion on reverse, still a very presentable low-grade example. For the T205 set builder seeking to fill in these difficult slots, this collection presents an exceptional opportunity. Three cards of Hall of Famer Bobby Wallace from one of the most popular sets of the era. Total 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,175.00
