1933 R319 Goudey #211 Hack Wilson PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,997.50
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Extraordinary high-grade example of Hall of Famer Hack Wilson from the 1933 Goudey series. An imposing physical specimen with bulging muscles, Hack Wilson was more than just a slugger. In 1930, his finest season, he set two legendary marks. His 56 home runs were a National League record that stood until 1998, when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa both shattered his record. But the single-season record that still stands from that year was his RBI mark of 191. Though contenders to the record have come close, no player has gotten within 25 RBIs of the mark since 1938. This 1933 Goudey #211 Hack Wilson has four sharp corners and is centered slightly toward the top right (approximately 55/45 L/R and 40/60 T/B), with flawless colors, and a very bold image. Even the blue-green background is bright and perfect with no fading, providing ideal contrast to Wilson's batting image. The card is perfectly clean both front and back. This is a very high grade example of one of Wilson's most desirable cards. SMR value for the assigned grade is $2,000. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,997.50
