1935 R321 Goudey Babe Ruth PSA EX-MT 6
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,762.50
Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. High-grade example of the key card from the 1935 Goudey “4-in-1” set, featuring Babe Ruth on his final card issued during his playing days. This is a fascinating card. While Ruth is identified with the Boston Braves, Goudey has actually borrowed and cropped the Yankee dugout pose image of Ruth’s card #181 from the 1933 Goudey series. The three other players who appear on the card are McManus, Brandt, and Maranville. The puzzle back section on the reverse is “Picture 5 Card A.” 1935 Goudeys are particularly hard to find in high grade. The color flush-to-the-border design makes them very susceptible to edge and corner wear. This is an unusually high-grade example of Babe Ruth, with bright and flawless colors, clean front and back, and with virtually perfect edges and corners (predominately wear in the upper right corner). This is a magnificent, high-grade example of one of Babe Ruth’s most significant cards: his final card from his playing days. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $1,762.50
