1939 Play Ball #92 Ted Williams SGC NM/MT+ 92

Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $6,462.50

Graded NM/MT+ 92 by SGC. Extremely crisp, super high-grade example of this classic card featuring Ted Williams in his rookie season. The card displays four razor-sharp corners, snow white borders, virtually perfect centering, and a crystal clear image of the "Splendid Splinter" in his familiar swing-thru pose. The reverse of the card is also perfectly crisp, clean, and boldly printed. It is fascinating to note that the text on the back of this rookie card reports that Ted "has a great future according to experts." This is a tremendous example of one of the key cards from the 1939 Play Ball set and one of the most popular cards of the era. The SMR lists a value of $5,250 for PSA NM-MT 8 and a value of $23,000 for PSA MINT 9 . This card is difficult to value in that it we believe it is very accurately graded and, as suggested by the label, it is in better than NM-MT condition, yet would not qualify for MINT. Whatever the grade or value, this is a stunning card. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,250+. SOLD FOR $6,462.50
