The 1950 Bowman set is often overlooked by collectors simply because it does not include a Mantle or Mays rookie, but this was a landmark set in its day, being the first postwar baseball issue to feature full-color artwork instead of photographs. We rarely have the opportunity to offer a complete set of 1950 Bowman and over the years have consistently found it to be among the most elusive sets of the era. The last set we offered (Lot 362 in April 2006, estimate $4,000/$6,000) was in a higher grade and sold for an astounding $23,200. This is a very attractive mid-grade complete set of this classic early Bowman issue. Total 252 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,525.00
