1887 N284 Buchner Gold Coin SGC-Graded Tobacco Card Collection (11)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,231.25
Impressive collection of eleven Buchner Gold Coin tobacco cards, mostly very high grade including seven ranging from EX to EX/MT, all graded and encapsulated by SGC (unless otherwise noted). Buchners are one of the most striking and distinctive of all nineteenth-century card issues. They are also one of the few full-color sets from the 1880s. This is a very substantial and simply beautiful group of these scarce and very colorful nineteenth-century tobacco cards. The SGC grades are as follows: Two EX/NM 80: Bastian and McCormick. Three EX+ 70: Crane and Mulvey (hands on knees). Two EX 60: Kennedy (PSA EX 5) and Welch. Two VG 40: Farrell (ready to tag) and O'Neil. Two GOOD 30: McGinnis and Myers. One FAIR 20: Morrill (hands at neck, looks much nicer but has a tear). This is an exceptionally attractive collection of these early classics. Total 11 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,231.25
