1953 Topps PSA-Graded Collection Including Mays and Robinson (12)
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $5,581.25
Collection of twelve high-grade cards from the popular 1953 Topps issue, highlighted by Willie Mays and Jackie Robinson. These cards are part of a small but very substantial collection of key cards that were carefully assembled many years before professional grading existed. We were so impressed with the overall condition that we submitted every single card in the collection to PSA for grading. Four cards are graded NM 7, six EX-MT 6s, and two EX 5s. The PSA grades are as follows: Four NM 7: #37 Mathews (HOF), 87 Lopat (short print), 119 Sain (short print), and 244 Mays (HOF). Six EX-MT 6: #53 Lollar, 132 Morgan (short print), 223 O'Brien, 226 Erautt (short print), 228 Newhouser (HOF, short print), and 242 Silvera (short print). Two EX 5: #1 Robinson (HOF) and 147 Spahn (HOF). Very crisp, clean, high-grade selection of key cards from this very popular issue, including six short-print cards and a particularly strong example of #244 Willie Mays. The SMR value for this group is $3,594. Total 12 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $5,581.25
