1967 Topps Test Stand-Up Collection (4) Including Aaron

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $6,462.50

Four examples from the extremely elusive 1967 Topps Stand-Up card issue including Hall of Famer Hank Aaron. The 1967 Topps Stand-Ups are among the rarest and most mysterious of all Topps issues. Almost certainly these cards never saw public distribution, and were produced for internal use only, as a test design concept. These cards were produced on very thick cardboard stock with a die cut design. The cards were designed with the intention that the player's head was to be punched out of the black background. Additional small punched-out pieces along the bottom of the card, when properly used, allowed the head to stand. Each of the four cards offered in this collection is missing one small punch-out piece along the bottom of the card (of very little significance with reference to visual appeal). The individual grades listed are without reference to the small missing punched-out piece: #2 Peters (Ex-Mt), 17 Staub (Ex to Ex-Mt), 20 Aaron (Ex), and 22 Santo (Ex with gum residue on the back). This is an exceptional group of these almost-never-seen Topps cards, which are held in the highest esteem by advanced collectors for their extreme rarity as well as for their very striking and unique design. Total 4 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $6,462.50
