1957 and 1959 Topps Unopened Wax Packs (2)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,231.25
Two classic high-grade 1950s Topps unopened wax packs, both graded and encapsulated by GAI: 1) 1957 Topps 5 Cent – 2nd Series: NM-MT+ 8.5. This rare second series pack might possibly include #95 Mickey Mantle, the key card from this popular set. The pack displays no tears on the corners, a tight seal, not a trace of dirt, and glorious original gloss. The slight to-the-right centering of the image on the front of the beautiful full-color wrapper appears to be solely responsible for this stunning pack not receiving an even higher grade. 2) 1959 Topps 5 Cent: NM 7. One tiny tear in the upper left corner, visible only from a side view, keeps this gem from receiving a Nr/Mt-Mt grade. Few packs have survived in their original unopened state from these early years. These unopened packs look exactly as they did when they sat on candy store shelves with countless others in the 1950s. Two extraordinary high-grade examples of these rare 1950s Topps wax packs. Total 2 packs. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231.25
