1932 New York Yankees World Champions Team-Signed Ball

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $6,462.50

D&M "City League" baseball signed in blue ink by twenty-nine members of the 1932 World Champion New York Yankees, including Ruth (sweet spot), Gehrig, Lazzeri, Saltzgaver (sweet spot), Sewell, Burke (coach), Murphy, McCarthy (Mgr.), Pennock, Brown, Wells, Gomez, Dickey, Cooke, Allen, Farrell, Pipgras, Byrd, Combs, Hoag, Jorgens, Andrews, and Perkins (coach). The remaining six names are either illegible or the players are not identifiable (indicating that this ball may have been signed in spring training and therefore includes the names of a few players who failed to make the final roster). The Ruth signature displays a very slight enhancement to the top portion of the "R" and the crossed line in the "T"; otherwise grading "6/7." The Gehrig signature grades "6." The remaining signatures range from "3" to "8," averaging "6." The ball is lightly soiled and displays a number of light abrasions that affect a few of the signatures (not Ruth or Gehrig), including all six on the south panel. In Very Good condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $6,462.50
