1936 World Series Sheet of Three Full Tickets Signed by Joe DiMaggio
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $3,525.00
Uncut sheet of three full and complete 1936 New York Yankees World Series tickets signed on the front in blue Sharpie (grading “10”) by Joe DiMaggio. This is a fascinating and unique signed item dating from DiMaggio's rookie season. The sheet, which features individual tickets (Sec. 2, Row B, Seat 17) for Games 3, 4, and 5, respectively, at Yankee Stadium, may represent a special proof sheet of tickets direct from the printer, as each ticket bears five small punch holes, two along the left side and three on the right, possibly in cancellation to prevent use. The sheet (7.25 x 8.25 inches) was long ago part of the Barry Halper Collection and was signed personally for Barry by DiMaggio. The 1936 World Series matched the New York Yankees against their National League rivals, the New York Giants. DiMaggio enjoyed a phenomenal rookie season in 1936. The club’s heir apparent to Babe Ruth finished the season with 29 home runs, 125 RBI, and a .323 average. He performed equally well in the World Series, batting .346 in the Yankees six-game victory over the Giants. There is a single heavy diagonal crease (possible separation) in the lower right corner that has been reinforced with clear tape on the reverse, otherwise in Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $3,525.00
