Circa 1935 Babe Ruth Single-Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $6,462.50
"Amateur League" ball signed by Babe Ruth across the sweet spot. Ruth's black fountain pen signature dominates the ball's premium panel and grades "7/8" overall. In the collecting world, an authentic Babe Ruth single-signed ball is tantamount to a "blue chip" stock and the offered piece represents a very respectable and highly desirable mid-grade example, with an exceptionally strong signature and an extraordinary display value. The ball has been coated with a layer of protective shellac, which has yellowed with age. A few uneven shades of coloring are visible throughout, as are three tiny chips in the shellac. The manufacturer's stampings remain distinct and legible. In Very Good condition overall. It would be hard to find a more impressive and ideal-for-display mid-grade Ruth ball. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $6,462.50
