1965 Pittsburgh Pirates Team-Signed Ball

Official National League (Giles) ball signed in blue ink by the following twenty-one members of the 1965 Pittsburgh Pirates: Walker (Mgr., sweet spot, clubhouse), Clemente , Stargell, Crandall, Lynch, Virdon, Smith, Sisk, Wood, Clendenon, Grammas (coach), Bailey, Pagliaroni, Cardwell, Pesky (coach), Friend, Rodgers, Face, Alley, McBean, and Law. The signatures are all fairly uniform in grade, averaging “8.” The extremely clean ball features bold manufacturer’s stampings and is in Near Mint condition. Led by Roberto Clemente, who recorded his second consecutive batting title in 1965, the Pirates remained in pennant contention throughout the summer before giving way to the Dodgers in September. The year also marked the “breakout” season for future Hall of Famer Willie Stargell, who batted .272 and led the team in both home runs (27) and RBI (107). LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200.
