1983 Pete Rose Signed U.S. Passport

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $2,643.75

Official U.S. passport issued to Pete Rose on August 4, 1983. The passport, valid until August 4, 1993, features Rose’s photograph and has been signed “Peter Edward Rose” in blue ink. It has been stamped “Cancelled” on the interior and makes note that Rose filed for a new passport on May 7, 1999. Visa stamps record a visit by Rose to Japan in December 1985. This passport dates from the most tumultuous period of Rose’s career. During that ten-year period Rose went from the height of baseball immortality, by becoming baseball’s all-time hit king in 1984, to the ignominious low of being banned from the game in 1989 for betting on baseball. This is a truly rare, substantial, and unique souvenir relating to one of the game’s greatest, yet tragic, figures. The passport (3.5 x 5 inches) is in Excellent to Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $2,643.75
