1920s Ty Cobb Full-Size Decal Bat

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,410.00

1920s H&B Louisville Slugger 40 T.C. Ty Cobb store-model decal bat features a colorful portrait of Cobb on the barrel surrounded by his endorsement and advertising for Louisville Slugger bats. The full-size 35.5-inch bat features bold, well-defined manufacturer's stampings throughout. The decal label is approximately 90% complete and intact, with no restoration whatsoever, which these days has become somewhat of a rarity for portrait decal bats. The actual bat itself is a beautiful blond wood which is not only striking, but is unusual and especially ideal for a portrait decal bat. These decal bats are so often made of a darker wood which dulls the brightness of the decal, especially on full-size models. This lighter wood allows the decal to display brightly, significantly contributing to its visual appeal and exceptionally strong display value. We grade the decal a “6+” on a scale of “1 to 10." The bat displays four small holes (each approximately the diameter of large nail and none affecting the decal) and general light wear. In Very Good to Excellent condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,410.00
