Circa 1928 Official National League (Heydler) Baseballs In Unopened Boxes (2)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,115.00
Presented are two GEM circa 1928 Spalding official National League (Heydler) baseballs, each still housed in its original unopened box. Each unopened box is in Near Mint condition and is complete with its original, unbroken, paper band. The ball pictured on the cover of each box (with red and black stitching) was only manufactured by Spalding between the years 1926 and 1932, thus dating the balls with certainty to that time period. Aside from some light foxing to the paper bands, the boxes remain in virtually perfect condition. While we cannot state with certainty, simply because the boxes have never ben opened, we assume that the balls they house are in Mint condition. In the mid-1990s REA sold at auction a find of ten Official National League (Heydler) balls in unopened boxes. This was the only find of unopened Heydler balls we had ever handled. The consignor told us at the time that he was keeping the best two from the find. After all these years, here are the last two! This is an extremely rare pair of Official National League (Heydler) balls in their original boxes, in extremely high grade, and ideal for display. Total 2 baseballs in boxes. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,115.00
