Circa 1928 Babe Ruth Photograph

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,057.50

Crystal-clear first-generation 8 x 10-inch black-and-white photograph of Babe Ruth in a classic batting pose. The photo appears to date from the late 1920s and was most likely taken at the Yankees spring training facility. The photographer’s name, “Thorne,” is ink-stamped on the reverse. The ink stamp identifies Thorne as the team’s official photographer and provides spaces for information to be filled in. The vintage pencil notations filled in list the team (“Yankees”), player (“Babe Ruth”), and position (“Outfielder”). The photo has a tiny chip in the upper left corner and a few very small light creases. Technically, in Very Good to Excellent condition but displays as Excellent. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,057.50
