1930-1968 World Series Ticket Collection (56)

This collection of fifty-six series World Series tickets spans the years 1930 through 1968 and commemorates twenty-seven different World Series and fifty-five different games. The offered grouping took years to assemble and represents nearly half of our consignor’s comprehensive World Series ticket collection (the balance of the collection is PSA-encapsulated and is being offered as a separate lot). Among the highlights offered here are tickets from all seven games of the 1947 World Series between the Yankees and Dodgers (Jackie Robinson’s first season). Unless otherwise noted, all of the tickets offered here are stubs. The collection is comprised of the following: 1930 , Game 4 (Gd, tape repair on reverse to a vertical tear); 1931 , Game 4; 1933 , Game 5; 1934 (two different tickets), Game 2 and Game 6 (slight abrasion on front and period ink notations on reverse); 1935 , Game 5; 1937 , Game 2; 1938 , Game 4; 1940 (two different tickets), Game 2 and Game 6; 1941 , Game 2; 1942 , Game 4; 1943 , Game 1; 1946 (three different tickets), Game 1, Game 4, and Game 6; 1947 (seven different tickets, Jackie Robinson’s first World Series), Game 1 (period pencil notations on front), Game 2 (period pencil notations on front), Game 3 (DiMaggio home run), Game 4, Game 5 (DiMaggio home run), Game 6, and Game 7; 1948 , Game 4; 1949 (two different tickets), Game 1 and Game 2; 1950 , Game 2 (DiMaggio home run); 1952 (three different tickets), Game 3, Game 4, and Game 5; 1954 , Game 3; 1955 , Game 2; 1956 , Game 3; 1957 (three different tickets), Game 4, Game 5, and Game 7; 1958 (five tickets, four different), Game 1, Game 3, Game X (two complete tickets, each Nr-Mt), Game 6; 1959 (five different tickets), Game 1, Game 2 (blank back, possibly a proof), Game 3, Game 4, and Game X (at Comiskey Park); 1962 (two different tickets), Game 3 and Game 6; 1965 , Game 1; 1966 Game 4; 1967 (four different tickets), Game 1, Game 3, Game 4, and Game 6; 1968 (two different tickets), Game 5 and Game 6. Approximately 57% range from Ex to Nr-Mt (averaging Ex+), and 43% range from Vg to Vg-Ex (with one or two tickets slightly lesser than Vg). Approximately 75% of the tickets display clean, sharp tears along the perforated edges, as opposed to the more commonly encountered “rough” edges found on stubs. This is an outstanding group representing a solid foundation to a serious World Series ticket collection. Total: 56 tickets. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $3,525.00
