Mickey Mantle Career Ring

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $4,112.50

Of all the specially produced Mickey Mantle commemorative items ever issued, perhaps none is more attractive than the one offered here: a Mickey Mantle Career Ring. These rings, created by Balfour, were limited in their distribution to just 536 (Mantle’s career home run total) and are notable for their exquisite detail. The 10K-gold ring features a large blue stone on the front, atop of which is Mantle’s number “7” inlaid with six diamonds. Outlining the facing of the ring, in raised relief, are Mantle’s name and the years of both his first and last seasons (“1951” and “1968”), respectively. Displayed on the left shank is a rendition of Yankee Stadium, above which sits Mantle’s facsimile signature. Noted below the stadium design is the date of Mantle’s uniform retirement “#7 Retired 6-8-69.” The right shank features an elaborate design with five bats bearing engraved notations that commemorate many of Mantle’s career achievements. His greatest career achievement is noted prominently above the bats, “536 Home Runs.” All of the lettering and designs incorporated into the ring’s left and right shanks are done in raised relief. The ring, which is uniquely engraved “095/536” on the interior band, is in Mint condition and is accompanied by its original wooden presentation case (3.5 x 3.5 x 2 inches). Size: approximately 9.5. From the Barry Halper Collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $4,112.50
