1888 "Scrapps" SGC-Graded Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $100.00, Sold For - $822.50
Collection of three 1888 "Scrapps," highlighted by Hall of Famer Dan Brouthers. This uniquely designed issue features nine players from the American Association’s legendary St. Louis Brownie Champs and nine players from the Detroit Wolverines. This is one of the few full-color baseball issues from before 1900 and also one of the most unusual and displayable of all early baseball card sets. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by SGC: Dan Brouthers (FAIR 20), Wm. Robinson (deemed "Auth" due to reverse repair of separation), Curtis Welch (FAIR 20). These cards were intended to be glued into scrapbooks and almost always have glue stains or paper residue on their reverses. The flaws on the reverse are often responsible for SGC grading this issue very harshly. This is a very attractive and relatively affordable collection of three cards from this colorful and unusual nineteenth-century die-cut issue. Total 3 cards. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$400. SOLD FOR $822.50
