1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug Bill Hallman
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $470.00
Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Second baseman Bill Hallman from the Philadelphia Phillies of the National League, dressed in street clothes. We can only guess that Hallman may be a particularly rare card in the Mayo set, based on the fact that our consignor was unable to upgrade this card after years of looking (it is the only card in the set graded less than Vg-Ex). The twelve distinctive "street clothes" style cards are often looked at as a subset of the Mayo's set. Hallman played every position during his 14-year Major League career, although he was primarily a second baseman. He batted over .300 for four straight seasons, from 1893 to 1896, the era during which Mayo's were issued. Presentable low-grade example from the premier set of the 1890s. Reserve $200. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $470.00
