1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug Tom Lovett
Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $940.00
Graded EX 60 by SGC. Highest-graded example! Pitcher Tom Lovett from the Boston Beaneaters of the National League. Lovett played only six seasons in the Major Leagues, with his best year in 1890 when he accumulated 30 wins and helped lead Brooklyn to the championship series against the Louisville Colonels. He joined Boston of the National League in 1894, his last season as a major leaguer. This card identifies him with Boston, making this one of several cards in the set strongly suggesting that the N300 Mayo series was issued over a two-year period (1894 and 1895). Centered 30/70 left to right, with a bold portrait image, even wear to the corners, and some minor edge chipping on the lower right edge. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $940.00
