Extremely Rare Circa 1930 Babe Ruth Punch Board
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $587.50
This unusual and extremely rare cardboard punch board, titled “Play Ball,” features a full-length image of Ruth in a batting pose as a member of the Yankees. A list of the possible prizes to be won for each particular “punch” appears directly below his image. The punch board (7.25 x 7.25 inches) is printed on sturdy cardboard stock and has never been used. A preprinted yellow label reading “Last punch in yellow section receives a kittenball. Last punch on board receives a kittenball” is affixed below the list of prizes. This particular punch board is a great rarity within the field of Ruth collectibles, and in fact is only the second example we have ever seen. Very few vintage punch boards feature specific players, and because of this fact, they tend not to receive much attention from collectors. In our opinion, the very best examples tend to represent an extraordinary collecting value, and ironically this is very likely because of their great rarity. This is not only one of the very best punchboards, but an extremely unusual and rare Babe Ruth item that is ideal for display. Technically in Very Good condition overall, due to a few tiny tears and a few very light creases, but certainly with an overall superior Excellent appearance. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600.
