Babe Ruth Souvenir Mini-Bat Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $100.00 , Sold For - $293.75

This collection of three Babe Ruth souvenir mini bats is highlighted by an extremely rare circa 1920s example that once served as a retail candy container. The 15.5-inch long wooden bat features a paper label on the barrel that reads "Babe Ruth's Bat - Filled With Candy." The bat is hollow and the top end of the barrel serves as the lid. A slight tug on the end is all it takes to reveal the hidden contents. A vintage red ribbon is tied around the handle. The bat displays light wear, including a few slight tears to the paper label, and there is a name, written in pencil (now partially erased and therefore illegible) on the side of the barrel. Very Good to Excellent condition. The candy, as one might assume, is long gone. The second bat in the collection is a 14-inch example issued in the late 1920s as a promotional vehicle for Babe Ruth Underwear. The only factory stamping on the bat is a center-brand label reading "Babe Ruth Athletic Underwear." Babe Ruth Underwear boxes have always been a desirable collectible and this rare bat would be the perfect compliment for display purposes. Very Good to Excellent condition. The final item is a 14-inch H&B Babe Ruth signature-model souvenir bat with Ruth's facsimile signature on the barrel. The bat displays heavy wear and is in Good condition. Total: 3 bats. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$300. SOLD FOR $293.75
