1991 Carlton Fisk Chicago White Sox Alternate Jersey

Carlton Fisk Chicago White Sox alternate jersey dating from the 1991 season. The black knit jersey is lettered “Sox” on the left breast and features the number “72” on the right breast and reverse. “Fisk” is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in white on silver tackle twill. A 1991 “Comisky Park – Inaugural Year” patch appears on the right sleeve. Located on the left front tail are a “Rawlings 50” label and an adjacent flag tag reading “Set 1 1991.” Original and unaltered, the jersey displays light wear. 1991 represented Fisk’s final season as an everyday catcher. Even at the advanced age of forty-four, “Pudge” was still able to post respectable numbers, batting .241 with 18 home runs and 74 RBI in 134 games. An eleven-time All-Star, Fisk retired in 1993 with 376 home runs, 1,330 RBI, and a .269 lifetime average. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2000. Graded A5 by MEARS (no post-1987 jersey can achieve a higher grade than A5 without additional provenance). This is one of fifteen Carlton Fisk jerseys listed in the MEARS census.
