2007 Daisuke Matsuzaka Boston Red Sox Home Rookie Jersey
Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $3,818.75
Daisuke Matsuzaka Boston Red Sox home jersey dating from both his rookie campaign and the club’s 2007 World Championship season. The white knit jersey is lettered “Red Sox” on the front and features the number “18” on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in red on navy tackle twill. Located on the front tail are a “Majestic” label and a white strip tag bearing the uniform number, size, and year (“18 48T 07”). Original and unaltered, the jersey displays moderate wear throughout. Regarded as one of the top pitchers in Japan, Matsuzaka arrived in Boston with high expectations at the start of the 2007 season. Despite the hardships associated with the change in culture, “Dice K” proved his worth by compiling a record of 15-12 with a 4.40 ERA in his rookie season. He was equally impressive in the postseason, winning games in both the LCS and World Series to help lead the Red Sox to their second World Championship in four years. Graded A5 by MEARS (no post-1987 jersey can achieve a higher grade than A5 without additional provenance). This is one of two Daisuke Matsuzaka 2007 Boston Red Sox rookie jerseys listed in the MEARS census, both of which are graded A5. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $3,818.75
