2005 Robinson Cano and 2007 Chase Utley Signed Pro-Model Bats (2)

Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $1,410.00

Offered here are two exceptional pro-model bats used, respectively, by Robinson Cano and Chase Utley, two of the best all-around second basemen in baseball today. 1) 2005 Robinson Cano Rawlings block-letter (full name) "456B" model bat. Dating from Cano's rookie season with the Yankees, the black bat displays significant use along its entire length including a plethora of deeply embedded ball and stitch marks, cleat marks, and a copious amount of pine tar on the handle. A wrap of black tape has been applied to the handle which extends 4.5 inches from the knob. Cano has attested to the bat's game-used provenance by inscribing it, "Rob Cano - game used Rookie 2005," in silver paint pen (grading "10") on the sweet spot of the barrel. The bat is also accompanied by an LOA, issued by Elite Sports Marketing, signed by Cano, that reads: "I, Rob Cano, hereby verify that this Rawlings Bat was 'Game Used' by myself during the 2005 season, my rookie season!" Length: 34.25 inches. Weight: 31.7 ounces. Graded A10 by MEARS (5 point base grade, plus 3 points for use and 2 points for the inscription/letter). This is one of only two Robinson Cano bats listed in the MEARS census and it represents the highest-graded example, with no others at this level. 2) 2007 Chase Utley Marucci bat. The black bat features Utley's full name stamped in white on the barrel. A series of numbers are stamped in the knob including "6 11 07," which probably indicates the production date of the bat. The bat displays significant use including deeply embedded ball and stitch marks, rack marks, cleat marks, pine tar, and a 12-inch multiple crack in the handle. Utley has signed the bat, "Chase Utley 26," in silver paint pen (grading "10") on the sweet spot. This bat was purchased by our consignor directly from Phillies Charities, Inc., on 6/30/07 and is accompanied by the original auction voucher invoice that describes the bat as "Utley Game-Used, Signed Bat." Additionally, a MLB hologram label is affixed to the barrel (#BB 543534). According to the MLB website, this bat was specifically used by Utley in a game against the Detroit Tigers in Philadelphia on June 15, 2007. Length: 33.25 inches. Weight: 32.2 ounces. Graded A9.5 by MEARS (5 point base grade, plus 3 points for use and 2 points for the team-auction/MLB provenance, but minus a half point for the crack in the handle). This is the only Chase Utley bat listed in the MEARS census. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Total: 2 bats. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,410.00
