1941 Gum, Inc. "Uncle Sam/Home Defense" SGC MINT 96 Collection (4)

Starting Bid - $400.00 , Sold For - $1,645.00

Incredibly super-high grade collection of four different 1941 "Uncle Sam/Home Defense" bubble-gum cards issued by Gum, Inc., each graded MINT 96 by SGC. The exceptionally colorful graphics and popular subject matter of this issue make it one of the most popular of nonsport sets from the 1940s. These cards are essentially perfect. We're not even sure how they could have survived in this flawless condition, but we know they have, because we've got them right here. Each card has perfect colors with four razor-sharp corners and perfect or near-perfect centering. This collection of spectacular MINT examples consists of the following: #5 "Gas Discipline," 8 "Field Artillery," 9 "Anti-Aircraft Crew," and 20 "Man Overboard." As of this writing, these are the only "Uncle Sam/Home Defense" cards to have ever been graded MINT 96, and just one card has been graded GEM 98. All four of the cards in this lot are the highest-graded examples to date. We have found that at auction cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than guide prices, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets. This is an outstanding high-grade collection of four 1941 "Uncle Sam/Home Defense" cards, each the highest-graded and finest example known to exist. Total 4 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $600+. SOLD FOR $1,645.00
