1909 E101 Anonymous "Set of 50" Honus Wagner
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $1,292.50
Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. This extremely rare E101 "Set of 50" candy card features the legendary Honus Wagner in a throwing pose. The manufacturer of E101 is unknown. The throwing pose of Wagner on this card is identical to that found in several rare sets of the era, including T216 Kotton Tobacco and E102 "Set of 25." The back simply reads "This card is one of a set of 50 Base Ball Players - Prominent Members of National and American Leagues." In 1909, Wagner led the league in every major batting category including batting average, on-base percentage, total bases, and RBIs. Nice-looking card, especially for the grade, with a couple of creases, rounded corners, and a few insignificant pinpoint spots. This is an extremely attractive technically low grade example of one of Honus Wagner's most classic cards, issued at the peak of his career. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,292.50
