1912 T207 Brown Background Louis Lowdermilk

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $3,525.00

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. One of only five examples graded at this level by PSA. Crisp, clean, super high-grade example of T207 Louis Lowdermilk, one of the legendary rarities of tobacco cards. This card has been downgraded by PSA from Excellent because of the slightest hint of a diagonal crease in the lower right corner of the card. Lowdermilk has long been recognized as the key rarity of the T207 brown background tobacco card series. In the original American Card Catalog by Jefferson Burdick, published in the 1930s, Lowdermilk was the only card in the T207 set listed as rarer and more valuable. (At that time, its value was listed at $1. The T206 Wagner was listed at $50.) Today collectors recognize many cards as being of various degrees of rarity in the T207 set, but Lowdermilk will always be the most famous key rarity of the classic T207 set. Broadleaf Cigarettes advertisement on reverse. The SMR value is $2,300. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,525.00
