1888 N28 Allen & Ginter Baseball Graded Collection (8)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $3,231.25

1888 N28 Allen & Ginter Champions collection of eight baseball players (seven different out of ten ballplayers in the set plus one duplicate). Included among the eight cards are four Hall of Famers. Each card has been graded by PSA, SGC, or GAI. Condition Report: Cap Anson (PSA VG 3; rounded corners and soiling, no creases), Chas. Bennett (SGC FAIR 20), R. L. Caruthers (GAI VG+ 3.5; clean card with a strong crease in the lower left corner), Charles Comiskey (PSA VG-EX 4; rounded corners, a few tiny background scrapes), Timothy Keefe (SGC VG 40; corner rounding and some edge toning, otherwise clean and with no creases), Joseph Mulvey (PSA VG 3 [MK]; has earned "MK" due to a few very unobtrusive spots of paper loss on reverse), Joseph Mulvey (PSA GOOD 2; great-looking card for the grade with Vg-Ex front, downgraded due to light moisture stain on reverse), and John Ward (VG-EX 4; light stain upper right, we grade this card Vg/Vg-Ex). Allen & Ginters are widely recognized as one of the most classic of all pre-1900 issues. This attractive medium-grade collection represents more then half of the complete set of ballplayers (missing only Clarkson, Glasscock, and Kelly for completion) from this extremely popular nineteenth-century issue. Total 8 cards (7 different). Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231.25
