1929 R315 "Portraits and Action" Lou Gehrig - PSA EX 5
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $822.50
Graded EX 5 by PSA. The highest-graded example ever by PSA of Lou Gehrig from the R315 "Portraits and Action" series. The R315 set has been referred to as the "Portraits and Action" series ever since Jefferson Burdick named them in the 1930s in his first American Card Catalog . It is unknown exactly how they were issued or whether this is a formal name provided by the issuer. We've seen a lot of R315s over the years, and this is certainly one of the best Gehrig examples we've ever encountered. Very attractive high-grade example in all respects of this 1929 card featuring Lou Gehrig in a classic fielding pose. Bright and crisp, with four square corners showing light wear, outstanding picture quality (which can sometimes be an issue with R315), and clean front and back. One of Lou Gehrig's few cards dating from the late 1920s, in Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600+. SOLD FOR $822.50
