1927 E210 York Caramels Babe Ruth
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $1,527.50
Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Rare candy card of Babe Ruth from one of the few issues dating from the late 1920s. The card has perfect clarity, rounded corners, and no major creases. The reverse is clean with bold black text and light pencil erasure marks above Ruth's name. It is interesting to note that Ruth is actually pictured in a Boston Red Sox uniform on this card. The York Caramel Company issued this unusual set in 1927. The set is identical in design to Tharps Ice Cream, Sweetman, and W502, but with advertising for the "York Caramel Co." of York, Pennsylvania, on the reverse. Collectors have always appreciated the rarity and primitive charm of this distinctive candy issue. York Caramels appear to have been regionally issued, as they are rarely found outside of the Pennsylvania area. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,527.50
