1934 Goudey #22 Floyd Vaughan PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $940.00
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Only one example of this classic card has ever been graded higher. Extremely high grade example of #22 Vaughan in 1934 Goudey. As a low-number series card in the 1934 Goudey set, #22 Vaughan is particularly difficult to find in high grade. Vaughan was among the leading National League hitters in the 1930s and was considered the best shortstop in the league. During his career he was named to the National League All-Star team nine successive years. His best years were spent in Pittsburgh, where his mentor, Honus Wagner, roomed with Vaughan while a Pirates coach. In 1935 Vaughan batted .385. He finished his career with a lifetime average of .318 and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985. The card is almost perfectly centered with four sharp corners, the hint of a vertical print line in the lower right, the slightest hint of border toning, and a deep red background. The portrait image is bright and crisp with perfect registry. The reverse is perfectly clean with bold green lettering. This is a very attractive example of this classic 1930s bubble-gum card. SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,350. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $940.00
