1953 Topps Complete Set (274)

Starting Bid - $2,000.00 , Sold For - $5,875.00

15% Nr/Mt, 52% Ex-Mt, 33% Ex (includes a very few cards slightly lesser). It is rare to find 1953 Topps in such accross-the-board high-grade condition. This set needs only a few upgrades to be a world-class set. This is an extremely high quality complete set of 1953 Topps, one of the most popular and classic of all baseball card sets. Sixteen cards have been graded, all by PSA unless otherwise noted. Keys: #1 Robinson (GAI EX+ 5.5), 10 Burgess SP (Ex-Mt), 27 Campanella (Ex/Ex-Mt), 37 Mathews (70/30 L/R, otherwise Ex), 41 Slaughter (Ex), 43 McDougald SP (Ex-Mt), 54 Feller (PSA EX-MT 6), 61 Wynn SP (Ex), 76 Reese (75/25 L/R, otherwise Ex), 77 Mize (Ex/Ex-Mt), 78 Schoendienst (PSA NM 7), 81 Black SP (Ex), 82 Mantle (encapsulated "Authentic" by SGC due to very slight trim along top border, strong Ex-Mt appearance), 86 Martin SP (30/70 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), 87 Lopat SP (70/30 T/B, otherwise Ex-Mt), 104 Berra (SGC EX/NM 80), 114 Rizzuto (30/70 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), 119 Sain SP (30/70 T/B, otherwise Ex-Mt), 138 Kell (Nr/Mt), 147 Spahn (Ex-Mt), 149 DiMaggio (Vg-Ex/Ex), 151 Wilhelm SP (Ex), 162 Kluszewski SP (PSA EX-MT 6), 191 Kiner (25/75 L/R, otherwise Ex), 207 Ford (Nr/Mt), 220 Paige (GAI EX+ 5.5), 228 Newhouser (SGC EX/NM 80), 244 Mays (PSA EX 5), 246 Face (75/25 L/R, otherwise Ex), 254 Roe (Ex), 258 Gilliam (PSA EX-MT 6), 263 Podres SP (SGC EX 60), 264 Woodling (Ex-Mt), 265 Jensen SP (Ex), 273 Haddix SP (PSA NM 7), and 280 Bolling SP (PSA EX-MT 6). The other PSA-graded cards consist of: #4 (NM 7), 154 (EX-MT 6), 252 (EX-MT 6), and 272 (EX-MT 6). The flush-to-the-bottom-border design of the 1953 Topps set makes this issue particularly susceptible to edge and corner wear, and makes the assembly of high-grade sets all the more difficult. This is an exceptionally attractive mid- to high-grade set, far above average for this issue, with tremendous eye appeal across the board. A high-quality and very carefully assembled complete set of one of card collecting's most popular issues. Total 274 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $5,875.00
