1953 Bowman Color #33 Pee Wee Reese SGC NM/MT 88
Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,292.50
Graded NM/MT 88 by SGC. One of only six graded at this level with just two graded higher (both only one-half grade higher at NM/MT+ 92). Magnificent super high-grade example of Hall of Famer Pee Wee Reese from the 1953 Bowman Color series. This card of Reese is considered by many collectors to be the most visually exciting 1950s card ever produced. The card displays razor sharp corners, brilliant colors, flawless registration, a perfectly clean front and back, and centering just a touch to the bottom left (but still very well centered). This is an extraordinary example of one of the most desirable of all Pee Wee Reese cards and one of the great classics of card collecting. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,500. Disclosure Notice: This card has been consigned to this auction from the personal collection of SGC principle David Forman. Mr. Forman purchased this card in the open market at public auction, already graded, just as is the case with all five SGC-graded cards Mr. Forman is selling from his personal collection in this auction. This disclosure is being made at his insistence (and with our blessing) to avoid even the potential appearance of impropriety. In addition to SGC's lifetime written guarantees, which apply to all SGC graded cards, REA will allow the winner of any or all of the cards from Mr. Forman's personal collection a six-month full return privilege for any reason if desired. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,292.50
