1955 Bowman PSA-Graded Complete Set: #7 PSA Set Registry (GPA 7.53)
Starting Bid - $7,500.00 , Sold For - $15,275.00
Spectacular high-grade complete set of Bowman's final baseball card issue in 1955. Every card in the set has been graded by PSA: 182 of the 320 cards in this complete set have been graded NM-MT 8 and 138 cards are graded NM 7. This is an extraordinary set, high quality throughout, and with a simply amazing degree of consistency. The flush-to-the-border wood-grain design of this issue makes them very susceptible to corner and edge wear, and very difficult to assemble as a complete set in such high grade. A tremendous amount of time and energy has been invested in the assembly of this high-grade set, with a concern for all condition factors including centering, and also overall eye appeal. This set is listed on the "PSA Set Registry" list. It is the seventh-highest graded set, with an average grade of 7.53. The grades for the entire set can easily be accessed online on the PSA Set Registry under "Spring 2008 REA." PSA grading composite: 182 cards are graded NM-MT 8: including #10 Rizzuto, 22 Campanella, 23 Kaline, 29 Schoendienst, 33 Fox, 37 Reese, 38 Wynn, 59 Ford, 65 Zimmer RC, 67 Larsen, 89 Boudreau, 97 Podres, 103 Mathews, 134 Feller, 168 Berra, 171 Roberts, 179 Aaron, 184 Mays, 191 Lemon, 197 Kiner, 202 Mickey Mantle, and 246 Bauer. 138 cards are graded NM 7: including #1 Wilhelm, 60 Slaughter, 68 Howard RC, 130 Ashburn, 158 Hodges, 160 Skowron, 169 Furillo, 170 Erskine, 213 Kell, 242 Banks, 265 Barlick, 283 Chylak, 303 Conlon, 308 Lopez, 315 Hubbard, and 320 (last card in set). This set was assembled one card at a time by a very dedicated collector over a period of many years. Also please note that none of these cards has been submitted for review for the recently introduced PSA half-grades. There is no question that a great number of these cards would be awarded higher half-grades if submitted for review. This is an extraordinary entirely graded high-grade complete set of this classic early Bowman issue, and without question one of the finest 1955 Bowman sets ever assembled in the history of collecting. The total SMR value for the individual cards exceeds $20,000, and this does not begin to take into account the time and effort required to assemble a set in this grade. Total 320 cards. Reserve $7,500. Estimate $15,000+. SOLD FOR $15,275.00
