1914 Chas. Comiskey Signed 3x5 Card with Original Mailing Envelope

Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $1,175.00

Presented here is an outstanding “Charles A. Comiskey” signature, dating from 1914, that is accompanied by its original mailing envelope and a period newspaper clipping from the Chicago Daily News . Comiskey’s signature has been flawlessly scripted in black fountain pen upon an unlined 5 x 3-inch card and grades “10.” Its original mailing envelope, which is postmarked September 12, 1914, accompanies the card. A black fountain-pen notation written along the left front border of the envelope reads “Chas. A. Comiskey. 9-11-1914 – Sig. and L. S.” Included with the signed card is a newspaper clipping (2.25 x 15 inches) that includes an article regarding Comiskey and his search for a manager of the White Sox. Period ink notations written on the clipping read “Chicago Daily News” and “12-9-1914.” According to our consignor, this clipping was originally mailed to the recipient along with the signed card, and they have remained together since that time. The card is in Near Mint condition, while the envelope is in Very Good condition (a few slight tears). The newspaper article has mailing folds and is in Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 3 items (card, envelope, and clipping). Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,175.00
