1931 World Series Ticket Stub Signed by Babe Ruth
Starting Bid - $400.00 , Sold For - $3,231.25
Ticket stub from Game 2 of the 1931 World Series between the Philadelphia Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals at Sportsman’s Park, signed on the reverse by Babe Ruth. Ruth has scripted his name in pencil and while the signature is fairly strong, grading “9,” its contrast is somewhat muted by the design of the duo tone background. This ticket was almost certainly signed by Ruth at the 1931 World Series. Ruth was most likely in attendance at the Series not just as baseball's greatest ambassador, but as a correspondent for the Christy Walsh Syndicate, a writing syndicate that featured a number of famous sports celebrities as columnists. The ticket (4.25 x 2 inches) displays a few light corner creases that do not detract in the least from its overall Excellent appearance. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $3,231.25
