1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug Jack Glasscock - Pittsburgh
Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $3,231.25
Graded EX 60 by SGC. Magnificent high-grade N300 Mayo's Cut Plug of Jack Glasscock with Pittsburgh. Glasscock is a particularly interesting card in the Mayo set because his card was issued two ways: one with the team name "Pittsburgh" on his shirt, and the other with "Louisville" on his shirt. This is the first card of Glasscock issued by Mayo, featuring him with "Pittsburgh" on his shirt. Glasscock left Pittsburgh following the 1894 season, and played eighteen games with Louisville in 1895. The Glasscock team variation cards confirm that the Mayo set was issued over a period of two years (1894 and 1895). Clean and crisp, both front and back, with very light wear to the condition-sensitive edges and corners, perfect contrast, and centered slightly to the top right. The reverse is flawless. This is a striking high-grade example of one of the important variation cards in the Mayo set. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $3,231.25
