1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug James Ryan
Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $940.00
Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Highest-graded example! Striking example of outfielder James Ryan from the Chicago Colts of the National League, dressed in street clothes. One of the game's early power hitters, Ryan led the National League in home runs, hits, and doubles for Chicago in 1888. He was also a leader in the movement that established the Players' League in 1890. Clean and crisp, with virtually no chipping on the black borders (just a couple of specs along the top border), light even wear on the corners, and centered 25/75 top to bottom. The back of the card has very light wear, otherwise perfectly clean with no chipping. Ryan collected 2,502 hits with a lifetime batting average of .302 over eighteen seasons (1885-1903). This is a very attractive hig- grade Mayo's example of one of the nineteenth-century's significant stars. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $940.00
