1945 Multi-Signed Ball Featuring Babe Ruth, Jimmy Collins, Honus Wagner, Cy Young, and Joe Louis.

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $4,406.25

Offered here is one of the most interesting multi-signed baseballs we have ever offered in that it not only features major stars from various eras, such as Babe Ruth, Jimmy Collins, Honus Wagner, Cy Young, Hugh Duffy, Joe DiMaggio, and Ralph Kiner, but also the signature of heavyweight boxing champ Joe Louis. It appears that this ball was signed over a period of time in the 1940s, as Jimmy Collins passed away in 1943 and Wagner has dated his signature 1945. Collins' signature is exceedingly rare on a baseball and is one of the main highlights of this unusual ball. The boldest signature on the ball is that of the legendary “Flying Dutchman," Honus Wagner, who has used an entire side panel to pen the black ink inscription (grading “9”) “To Joe Fallon – Doni-Tony from Honus Wagner – Pirates 45.” The remaining twenty-four signatures, penned in either blue or black ink, include those of Jimmy Collins (signed "James J. Collins," "6"), Babe Ruth (“6/7”), Cy Young (“6”), Mel Ott (“5/6”), Hugh Duffy (“6”), Joe DiMaggio (“3”), Joe Louis (“5/6”), Johnny Mize (“5”), Ralph Kiner (“3”), Al Schoendienst (“4”), Al Schacht, Rip Sewell, Eddie Stanky, Walker Cooper, Tex Carlton, and Johnny Lindell. The remaining eight signatures are either very faint or illegible, making identification difficult. The Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner signatures are particularly strong. The ball has been coated with a light layer of protective shellac and is in Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $4,406.25
